After leaving CBS and returning back to my studies at Florida State University I did not have the close encounters with America’s Music legends like I had previously.
Sure I continued to listen to America’s Music. I attended FSU sponsored concerts just like I did when I went on to get my Masters Degree in Advertising & Public Relations at the University of Illinois.
I also decided to do my thesis on an America’s Music legend – Bob Dylan.
Dylan became the first SELF PROMOTER in the recording industry. His real name was definitely not Bob Dylan. He chose the last name – Dylan – because he was a huge fan of the great Welsh literary giant Dylan Thomas. If you have no clue who Dylan Thomas is Google him and then immerse yourself in one of his works of poetry!
Bob Dylan like Dylan Thomas became a poet of America’s Music using his music and especially words to share his feelings of the world he was experiencing at the time. Bob Dylan like myself was living in the days of Haight Ashbury and the Vietnam War. If you have never heard his classic Blowing In The Wind do yourself a favor and find it on the Net and listen to it!
